The Future of Creatives: Thriving in a DIY Economy: A FREE Salon/Discussion Monday, September 30, 2013 from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM (CDT) Austin, TX
How creatives define work and career in the emerging economy is undergoing an undeniably huge sea change. If we’re going to do our ourselves and our children a favor, we need to wrap our brains around and collaborate on new ideas to embrace and surf this change or be overwhelmed by it.
Please join our CEO, Maggie Duval of Learning Innovations in Future Education (LIFE) for a spirited salon this Monday, September 30th, to dialogue on how we tackle this. Her special guests will include Jennifer Bullard and Billy Joe Cain from the Captivate Conference and the Independent Game Developers Association (IGDA), Teri Sperry of Alt.Ed Austin, Ariel Miller of Skybridge Academy and a few surprise guests. The event is FREE and snacks and wine/sparkling water will be provided, but you MUST RSVP at Eventbrite so that we have a good idea of numbers to buy for.
Topics to be explored include:
What constitutes this emerging economy?
What is the “DIY culture?”
Seven careers in one lifetime”: reality or oft-quoted myth
How do I, as a creative, even hope to keep up with the rapid-fire changes in tech development?
How do I remain relevant?
How can I support my child in finding the best educational options that will give them what they need to thrive in this new economy?
Again, this is a FREE event. Please join us for lively and stimulating conversation, wine and refreshments at Skybridge Academy, on their campus at the Stunt Ranch.
Who would enjoy this?
Creatives (artists, writers, musicians, programmers, actors, etc.)
Students who want to have a career (or two plus) in this realm.
Parents who want to help their kids achieve their dream career(s) in the creative industries.
