Finally the Tech Experience of a Lifetime

After two years of working on the full foresight project, conceptualization and content development for the AEM Tech Experience at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017 in Las Vegas, we finally got to see the event in its full splendor. While The Futures Lab conceptualized the event, created the theming and content framework, AEM members, universities, institutions and even the Government provided the content, which was beautifully integrated into Jack Morton designs and brought to life by GES.

Covering four major themes: Imagine What’s Next in Infrastructure, Intelligent Jobsite, Workforce and Additive Manufacturing, the event displayed a fantastic vision of both the near, mid-term and further out future, boasting amazing advances in Hyperloop, a fully 3D printed excavator, the HeroX competition for Infrastructure 2050, a drone cage and a full mission control set–up for an intelligent worksite, supported by emerging developments in everything from self-healing asphalt and solar roads to a broad array of intelligent systems for site management, data analysis and fleet/resource interaction, including robotics, AI and HMI. There were a number of advanced 3D VR training systems, communications interfaces and our own “Future Job Kiosk” developed together with our partners in Hungary under the supervision of TFL associate, Helga Veigl.

The Tech Experience also boasted dozens of daily presentations at the Tech Experience theater, with the presentation by astronauts, twin brothers, Mark and Scott being a major draw, along with Wayne Rapp, Director of Manufacturing at Hyperloop One and D’Arcy Salzmann, Senior Director, Strategy, Microsoft HoloLens & Studio Manager, Future Bureau, Microsoft.
