The Futures Lab, inc. and its President, Dr Derek Woodgate are proud to announce that after nearly 3 years we have completed both phases of our consulting project with the Prince Mohammad bin Fahd university (PMU) in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia on the future of the University and the development multiple futures scenarios, strategies. Short, medium and long-term projects in line with the Saudi Arabia 2030 Vision.
The project progressed in collaboration with Dr. Faisal Al Anezi, the VP of Academic Affairs and his team of representatives from all seven colleges. The scope for Phase I centred around creating futures scenarios with strategic and implementation plans, transition models, governance structure, capacity/competency building and pilot projects. Phase II included feasibility studies to determine the benchmarking criteria for faculty performance, competencies, agility, and adaptiveness, setting out future models for each faculty, department and transitioning frameworks for the 15-20-year horizon. Phase II also involved developing a parallel operating models & organization structures where appropriate with the goal of optimizing the implementation of the preferred futures.
The final outcomes covered 6 visionary scenarios and 11 major projects and the development of new departments and hubs, transdisciplinary courses and transformative education practices for all the colleges and the university as a whole, supported by research strategies. The outcomes were paradigm-shifting, expansive and filled potential gaps in PMU’s future arsenal in anticipation of the vast growth opportunities and proposed developments for Saudi Arabia and globally.
As PMU’s President, Dr Issa said upon the project’s conclusion “…your efforts have set the stage for informed decision-making and strategic planning for the future, ensuring our continuing excellence in education...”
